Veg Box Patties is a yummy and crispy snack recipe prepared from vegetable stuffing packed in wheat flour pockets. It is a very tasty snack that can easily replace burger and patties from the fast food stall. It is very much loved by young kids. Parents usually pack this for their kid’s lunchbox tiffin. To prepare Veg Box Patties, we just need few chopped vegetables, Wheat Flour, Sooji, Mayonnaise and Cheese slices. Veggie Box Patties is similar to snacks such as Veg Pizza McPuff and Bread Pizza McPuff. All these snack recipe uses vegetable stuffing. The difference is in the way you prepare the stuffing.

While preparing stuffing for Veg Pizza McPuff and Bread Pizza McPuff we use Pasta & Pizza Sauce along with Mozzarella Cheese and herbs such as Oregano, Basil Leaves, Chilli Flakes, etc. You can replace different herbs with single ingredient i.e. with Pasta & Pizza seasoning. To prepare the stuffing for Veg Box Patties, we will be using Mayonnaise along with a number of vegetables such as carrot, onion, capsicum, cabbage, etc. You can also add vegetables as per your choice.

The process of preparing the Veg Box patties is easy but it consumes a little more time. Preparing the patties box takes the most time. In spite of more time that it takes, you will relish it once you prepare and have it. You can prepare Veggie Box Patties in two ways. Either with the use of Bread Crumbs or without the use of Bread Crumbs. If you love to have crunchy and crispy box patties, dip the patties box in maida flour paste, roll it with bread crumbs and fry it in oil. The other way is frying the patties box without the use of bread crumbs.

Veg Box Patties can be fried or can be baked in pre heated microwave oven. If you do not like oil, you can bake it in oven. However the real taste of the patties comes when it is deep fried in oil. Try this recipe for your breakfast table or snacks table and share your feedback.

Ingredients:

For Wheat Flour dough:

  • 1 cup Wheat Flour
  • 1 cup Sooji (Rava or Semolina)
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Warm Water (For kneading the flour)

For Preparing Stuffing & Patties Box:

  • 1/2 cup Veg Mayonnaise
  • 1 medium Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1/2 cup Finely Chopped Carrot
  • 1/2 cup Finely Chopped Capsicum
  • 1 cup Finely Chopped Cabbage
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt (As per taste)
  • 4 slice Cheese Slice
  • 1 cup Bread Crumb: 1 cup
  • 2 tablespoon Maida (All-purpose Flour) (To seal the Patties Box)
  • Tomato Ketchup (As per taste)
  • Vegetable Oil (for frying)
  • Water (for making Maida paste)

Instructions:

To prepare Maida dough:

  • Take a large bowl and add Wheat Flour, Sooji, Vegetable Oil and Salt
  • Mix all the ingredients evenly. Take a heap of the mixture in your palm and press to check whether it forms a lump or not. If not, add more vegetable oil and mix it.
  • Now with the help of warm water, prepare the dough by adding water little by little.
  • After the dough is prepared, keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  • Now prepare the Maida Paste by adding 1 or 2 teaspoon to maida. Mix it so that no lumps are present. Keep it aside.

To prepare Stuffing and Patties Sheets:

  • Take a bowl and add Chopped Onion, Chopped Carrot, Chopped Capsicum, Finely Chopped Cabbage, Black Pepper Powder and Salt. You can use White Pepper Powder in place of Black Pepper.
  • Mix all the ingredients. Next add Veg Mayonnaise and again mix all the vegetables. Add Mayonnaise as per your choice. You can use any other type of mayonnaise also.
  • The quantity of Mayonnaise added to the veggies depends on the quantities of the vegetables. Keep the mixture aside for 10 minutes and prepare the wheat flour sheets.
  • Take small amount of dough in the rolling board and roll it with rolling pin to make thin sheet. Cut the sheet into rectangle shape of size 5 inch x 8 inch.
  • Further cut the sheet into two rectangular shape sheets with size 2.5 inch x 8 inch. In the same manner make sheets for the remaining dough.

To Prepare Veg Patties Box:

  • Take a sheet and place it over the rolling board. Apply some maida paste at the central part of the sheet with the help of fingertip.
  • Place another sheet over the applied maida paste on first sheet at an angle of 90 degree to form a plus sign form. Press firmly at centre so that both sheet stick to each other.
  • Take a slice of Cheese and cut it into four equal parts. Take a part and place it at centre over the crossed flour sheet.
  • Next spread some Tomato Ketchup over the cheese slice.
  • With the help of spoon, take required amount of Mayonnaise vegetable mixture and evenly spread over the cheese. Place another slice of cheese over the mixture.
  • Now apply maida paste at the edges of the sheets. Lift one side of the lower sheet and roll it to cover the stuffing.
  • Take another side of the sheet and roll it over the first. Press it firmly so that the sheets stick to each other.
  • Similarly wrap the other two ends of the sheet. The vegetable stuffing should be packed properly so that it does not come out of the packets.
  • In the same manner prepare all the box patties. Keep them aside.
  • Take the leftover maida paste and add water into it to make the paste thinner.
  • Now heat oil in a kadai over medium flame.
  • Take a box patties, dip it into the maida paste, place it over Bread Crumb and roll all the sides so that it gets covered with the crumbs.
  • Dip the patties into the oil and fry it. Fry it till it becomes light golden brown. Dip 3-4 patties at a time.

  • Take the patties out of the oil and place it over tissue paper so that it absorbs extra oil.

  • In the same manner fry the other box patties. Veg Box patties is ready to be served. Serve it with your favourite chutney or ketchup.

Notes:

  1. The stuffing can be prepared with vegetables of your choice. You can use French Beans, Sweet Corns, Peas, etc.
  2. Here we have used Cheese slice. If you want you can replace it with Mozzarella Cheese. Mozzarella Cheese is mixed with other veggies while making the stuffing.
  3. There are two options, baking or frying. If you do not like oil, you can bake it in pre heated microwave oven.
  4. The edges of the sheets should be closed properly so that the vegetable stuffing does not come out while frying. To seal the patties box, you can use either water or maida flour paste.
  5. To give a different taste to the patties box, you can also add pizza seasoning or Oregano and Chilli Flakes to the vegetable stuffing.
  6. The patties box can be kept in the freeze and used later on. Simply take them out of the freeze and fry them.
  7. If the Sooji is thick, you can slightly grind it to make it smooth.
  8. The Patties Box can also be fried without rolling them with Bread Crumbs.
