Tamarind Chutney or Imli Ki Chutney is a delicious sweet, sour and tangy sauce which is prepared from Tamarind, Jaggery and other spices. You can prepare this Chutney in different variations by increasing or decreasing the thickness of the chutney. The thickness of the chutney depends upon the amount of water added to it. The sweetness to the chutney is added by using jaggery into it. We can also use sugar in place of jaggery. However I would suggest you to use jaggery for better taste.

Imli Ki Chutney is also available in the market in readymade form. If you want to make any recipe in less time, you can use the readymade chutney. However homemade chutney is better than readymade one as it more authentic and original. There are no chances of any adulteration. If possible, make the chutney at home and store it. Use it whenever required. It is more healthier than the readymade chutney. So the next time you think about Imli Ki Chutney, don’t go to the market to buy, but prepare it at your home.

Here we are preparing the Chutney with tamarind and jaggery. We can also prepare the chutney with dates. I have already shared the Date Tamarind Chutney where we had used tamarind, jaggery and dates. Please visit Khajur Imli Ki Chutney to make this chutney with dates. There is only slight change in taste. To prepare this chutney, soak the Tamarind in water for 3-4 hour or overnight before preparing the chutney. The water makes the imli soft and makes the task of making chutney very easy.

To prepare the chutney we must use seedless tamarind. If you do not have seedless tamarind then take out the seeds after soaking it and then boil it to make the chutney. We soak the tamarind in water to reduce the boiling time of the ingredients. Prepare the chutney and store it refrigerated in air tight container to keep it fresh for about a month.

Tamarind Chutney is ready to serve with your favourite snacks recipe. You can serve it with samosa, pakoda and other snacks recipes. You can also use it to make various recipes such as Tikki Chaat, Papdi Chaat, Paani Puri, Bhel Puri, Sev Puri, Tikki, etc.
