Sandwiches are one of the favourite breakfasts in one’s diet. It can be prepared in a number of ways. Grilled Cheese Sandwich is one of the easiest and quickest of them all. It just requires fresh slices of bread and cheese. It can be prepared with either white bread or with brown bread. Multi Grain bread is also available in the market which is also a good option. There are also a number of options for cheese type. You can select as per your liking. Here I have used plain cheese along with few additional ingredients such as Oregano, Red Chilli Flakes and Black Pepper Powder. Here I have grilled the Sandwich on tawa. It can also be prepared in a toaster or griller. All the ingredients are filled in between two bread slices and then grilled till both the sides become golden brown and crispy. It is served with Tomato Ketchup or Green Chutney.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

The classy Grilled Cheese Sandwich is very easy and quick to make. Slices of cheese are spread in between the bread and the ingredients such as Oregano, Chilli Flakes, Black Pepper and Roasted Cumin Powder is spread over it. It is then grilled till it becomes crispy and golden brown. Let’s get started this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 10 slice Bread
  • 10 slice Cheese
  • 3 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Roasted Cumin Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 2 teaspoon Red Chilli Flakes
  • 2 teaspoon Oregano
  • Salt to Taste

Instructions:

  • Take the entire 10 bread slice and generously apply butter on only one side of the bread.
  • Keep aside 5 bread slices. Take the remaining slices and sprinkle some salt over all of them.
  • Then sprinkle the Roasted Cumin Powder, Black Pepper, Red Chilli Flakes and Oregano over them. Sprinkle it as per your requirement.
  • Put 2 slice of cheese over each bread so that it covers almost every part of the bread.
  • Again sprinkle all the ingredients over the Cheese Slice.
  • Cover it with the remaining 5 slices and press it.
  • Heat the pan over medium flame. Add little butter to it and allow it to melt.
  • Put the prepared sandwich over it and grill it till it becomes golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Flip it and grill the other side till golden brown. Press the sandwich gently in between with the help of spatula so that it gets cooked properly from inside.
  • Grill all the bread sandwich. Grilled Sandwich is ready to be served.
  • Transfer the sandwich into a cutting wood and cut it into two half with a knife.
  • Serve it hot with Ketchup or Chutney.

Notes:

  1. Fresh or Dried Herbs is used to prepare the sandwich. I have used Oregano. It can be replaced with other herbs such as basil, rosemary or Coriander Leaves.
  2. I have used Plain Butter so salt has been added. If you are using Salted Butter, there is no need of adding salt.
  3. Here I have used slice of cheese in between the bread slice. It can be replaced with cheese blocks which is grated and then spread over the bread slice.
  4. To make a cheesy sandwich, you can use two slices of cheese.
