Homemade Coriander Powder or Dhania Powder is the most widely used spice in Indian homes. We call it as Dhania Powder in Hindi. It is very healthy, fresh, hygienic and adds taste and aroma to every dish that we prepare. Homemade Coriander Powder is made from Coriander Seeds or Dhania Seeds. It is very easy to prepare at home. Just prepare it once and store for many months.

Readymade Coriander Powder is easily available in the market. But this market bought masala powder can be adultered powder. So preparing it at home is a good option to get rid of adulteration. In my initial days of cooking I mostly preferred market bought coriander powder to prepare my dish. But now I always use Homemade Coriander Powder. It has been more than five years that I have been using Homemade Coriander Powder for every dish that I prepare at home. I would suggest my readers to use homemade masala powder to prepare their recipes since it adds taste, aroma and flavour to the recipe.

There are two ways of preparing Coriander Powder or Dhania Powder at home:

  1. Roasting Process: In this process, first roast the coriander seeds under low flame. Roast till it slightly changes its colour and leaves fragrance and aroma. Allow the seeds to cool down completely. When it cools down completely, transfer it to mixer grinder jar. Blend it to make smooth coriander powder.
  2. Sun Dry Process: In this process, first dry the coriander seeds under sun for 2-3 days. After drying add it to blending jar and grind to make the coriander masala powder.

Today I am going to prepare the Homemade Coriander Powder by the first process that is by Roasting Process. If you want you can prepare it by the Sun Dry Process also. To prepare the masala powder at home, first heat the pan over low heat. Add the Coriander Seeds to the pan. Roast the seeds till it changes its colour and fragrance starts coming out. Keep stirring the seeds continuously so that it does not burn. If it burns it will ruin the taste of the masala. Cool the seeds and then transfer it to grinder jar. Blend it to prepare smooth and aromatic Homemade Coriander Masala Powder.
