1teaspoonGreen Cardamom
1/2teaspoonCloves
3/4inchCinnamon Stick
1/2teaspoonBlack Peppercorns
2pieceStar Anise(Optional)
3/4teaspoonGinger
1teaspoonTea Leaves or Tea Powder
3teaspoonSugar
1.5cupMilk
1cupWater
Instructions
Take all the dried whole spices such as Green Cardamom, Cloves, Cinnamon Stick, Black Peppercorns and Star Anise in a blender or hand pestle. Star Anise is optional.
Crush the whole spices into coarse powder. Keep it aside.
Now take Water in a sauce pan and boil it over low to medium flame.
Add approx. 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon of crushed Whole Spices along with Ginger and Tea Leaves (or Tea Powder). Crush the Ginger slightly before adding it.
Boil the Water for about 3-4 minutes over low to medium flame. The water will absorb the flavours of the spices and Tea Leaves.
It is at this time that we will add the Milk. After 3-4 minutes, pour the Milk into the boiling water. Also add Sugar to it.
Boil the mixture for another 3-4 minutes till the flavour is completely dissolved with the milk.
To get a proper flavour of the masala boil the milk for few minutes under low flame. It will add extra flavour to the tea.
After 3-4 minutes, switch off the stove. Strain the Masala Tea with the strainer.
Masala Chai is ready to serve. Transfer the Masala Tea into a serving cup and serve it in breakfast or with your favourite Snacks Recipe.
Notes
The taste of the Masala Tea depends upon the Masala Tea Powder and Tea Leaves. Adjust the quantity as per your requirement.
Few additional ingredients such as Tulsi (Basil) can also be added. It is beneficial for immunity.
The taste can also be varied by varying the quantity of spice powder.
Milk is the other reason that decides the taste of the tea. So adjust it accordingly.
Also add Sugar as per your fondness of sweetness. You can also use Sugar Free sweetener.
